Sitting on the shore of Sydenham Inlet, nestled between Cape Conran Coastal Park, Croajingalong National Park, Bemm State Forest, with the Errinundra Plateau just up the hill, the tiny community of Bemm River gives you a sense of relaxed isolation, there are no shopping centres, cafes or queues at the boat ramp.

Although it's a fair hike from most places, 400+ kms east of Melbourne and 350 kms south of Canberra, most visitors make the journey to Bemm River to go Bream fishing, others are here to explore the wilderness coast, national parks while some unwind and do little.

Bemm River Caravan Park is in the centre of town. We take pride in our facilities and environment and endeavour to provide a quiet and respectful camp ground for our guests. Most powered sites are grassy and a reasonable size. Unpowered sites are predominantly on the side of a grassy hill, therefore more suited to camper trailers, tents etc. and the 3 cabins are all 2 bedroom & fully self-contained with linen & bedding supplied.

While the Caravan Park is not on the water, it’s just a short drive or walk to the boat ramps on Sydenham Inlet, a bit further to fishing platforms and kayak launch areas on Bemm River and a 15-minute drive to the various ocean beaches.

Bream, Birds, Beaches, Bushwalks, Waterways, Wildlife, Wildflowers...... this destination overflows with recreational fishing opportunities, remote adventures, coastal excursions, and photographic moments. It's not unusual for visitors to return at specific times of the year to seek out the diverse experiences which emerge with the changing seasons; native orchids, forest fungi, beach shells, prawning or snorkelling for abalone and crayfish at Pearl Point.

Once you arrive, dump the watch and devices then immerse yourselves in our pristine environment. Hear the birdsongs, smell the coast, spend the evening being amazed at the night sky then wake up to the boats & trailers rattling by for a day out on the water.

It’s not just about the warmer weather; in cooler times collect some firewood and sit beside the open fire in the camp shelter, known for generations as The Red Shed, read a book or pick up the daily papers from Bemm River Bait and Tackle, which is also our local General Store. Meander to the Pub, about 700 meters from the park, for coffee & cake, a long lunch or evening meal & watch the footy.

When you’re next passing the sign on the highway, take some time to discover for yourself if it’s worth the turn to Bemm River.
